Six officers graduated today from the Toledo Police Academy at a short ceremony held on the campus of Owens Community College.
The officers were selected for an accelerated academy based on either previous law enforcement experience or training completed as Ohio Peace Officers. The five week training they received from the Toledo Police Academy brought them up to speed on department policies and procedures that may vary from those they have learned elsewhere.
The City of Toledo budgeted for an academy class of 50 officers to begin training in 2011. The department will swear in 44 more officers to begin the full academy program on November 15. They are anticipated to graduate in spring 2012. |
