The Department of Public Utilities Discount Programs The Department of Public Utilities offers Water/Sewer/Storm Water Discounts to senior citizens and disabled people within the City of Toledo who are enrolled in the Lucas County Homestead Exemption Program.
Homestead Discount Program
This program offers a 25% discount on the first 2,000 cubic feet of water and sewer consumption, a 25% discount on storm water charges and a reduction in the Refuse Collection Fee to $5.00 per month.
To be eligible for the Homestead Discount Program customers must meet all four of these criteria:
1. City of Toledo resident.
2. Enrolled in the Lucas County Homestead Exemption Program. Information about this program is available through the Lucas County Auditor's Office by calling 419-213-4336 or on the Auditor's website.
3. Own and occupy a single-family residence.
4. Must be the contract holder or spouse of the contract holder for DPU water, sewer and storm water services.
Once enrolled in the Lucas County Homestead Exemption Program, a customer can apply for the Water Utilities Discount by simply calling DPU Customer Service at 419-245-1800 or e-mailing Customer Service at webform@toledo.oh.gov.
Water Discount (Senior)
This discount provides a reduction in the minimum usage with a standard 5/8 inch meter from 2,000 to 1,000 cubic feet for homeowners who are 65 years of age or older. The consumer must take service from a single meter for a single unit utilized solely for residential purposes as the permanent residence of the consumer for which the consumer or the consumer's spouse is personally responsible for payment of the bill as the head of household.
