Sanitary Engineering

Toledo is under orders from the Federal EPA to make improvements to the sanitary sewer system to eliminate sewer overflows as part of the Toledo Watervays Initiative. This, in addition to sewer backups in basements is influencing much of the work direction for this operation. A basement flooding grant program is continuing to assist homeowners who have experienced problems. Another grant program is available to assist property owners in the disconnection of clean water sources, such as downspouts and driveway drains, from their sanitary sewer.
