Refuse Collection

For assistance or questions, contact customer service at 419-936-2511.

Placing your refuse cart out for collection
Each residence has been provided carts with lids for collection of refuse to ensure that our neighborhoods remain clean and residents may continue to receive efficient service through the automated program.  Here are some tips for ensuring that your refuse is collected each week as scheduled:

  • Do not overfill the container.  Objects should not protrude beyond the top of the container and the lid must close securely.
  • Make sure the lid opening is facing the street or alley.
  • Place the container a foot from the curb or alley line.
  • Place the container at least three feet from parked vehicles and other obstructions like mailboxes.
  • Avoid placing containers under trees, low wires or basketball hoops to allow room for the arm to lift the cart.
  • Place carts out for collection by 7 a.m. on your scheduled collection day.
  • Do not place additional bags or items on top of your collection cart.
  • Avoid tightly packing refuse in your container to ensure that it is completely emptied into the truck.

What if all of my refuse does not fit in my container?
Residents may purchase one additional container for their refuse or recycling collection.  Containers are available for purchase by contacting customer service at 419-936-2511.  Additionally, Republic Services offers one free scheduled bulky pick up per quarter for large items like furniture, TVs, and carpeting.  For more information see the "Bulky Pick-up" page.

Is ANY refuse accepted in my container?
Refuse should fit in the container without preventing the lid from closing properly.  If an item does not fit completely inside of the container it should be scheduled for bulky pick up.  Additionally, hazardous materials such as paint, batteries, oil and other chemicals should not be placed into your refuse container.  For more information about how to dispose of these items, see the Hazardous Waste page or contact customer service at 419-936-2511 for assistance.
