Recycling

In June, 2009 the City of Toledo started utilizing a single stream recycle process.  This allows residents to place all recyclables in one container.  Residents should set out their recyclables at the curb on the same day as their regular refuse collection, but every other collection (Click Here or Call 419-936-2489 to determine if you are a "1" or "2" week) and we will collect it.  It's just that simple and easy!

What can be recycled?

Residents can place the following materials in their recycling cart:
Plastic:  milk jugs, soda bottles, laundry detergent bottles
Metal:  aluminum and steel cans
Glass:  all colors of glass bottles and jars
Paper/Cardboard:  newspapers, magazines, phone books, junk mail, high grade paper (office paper, copier paper & notepad paper), boxboard (cereal boxes, dry food boxes & shoe boxes), corrugated containers (cardboard)

Did you know?

In the month of December, 2009 the citizens of Toledo recycled 500 tons of material.  In January 2010 our citizens recycled 1,000 tons.  This is proof that we are going green!  In previous years we recycled 4,000 tons of material as an annual average.
