The City of Toledo’s Division of Forestry and Urban Beautification supervises the care and maintenance of trees in
the public right of way. Much of the work performed by Forestry originates from citizen requests.
To initiate this process, a resident need only contact the Division of Forestry by calling 419.936.2988 or by e-mail and ask for the tree to be evaluated by one of the city’s ISA certified arborists. Be prepared to provide the street address at which the tree is located. The Division of Forestry maintains a computer inventory of street trees, indexed by address.
An inspection will be scheduled, usually within two weeks. The Forestry Inspector will visit the site and assess the tree’s health, and relative safety. He will make recommendations for maintenance based on these observations. A note will be left at the property advising the homeowner of the inspector decision and the tree’s status.
Data collected from the site will be used to update Forestry’s city-wide tree inventory.
The tree will be placed on a maintenance list and given to supervision to complete as scheduling permits.
